Wednesday 29 April

Smooth sailing still, another lovely, sunny day.

Up at 5.30am for early start in Rhodes. We are both very tired (as are many others). You can do the cruise to relax or to throw yourself into every optional tour as we have done. We are all looking forward to an afternoon off.

40km drive to the village of Lindos. Tina sleeps and startles the bus as she snorts herself awake!

Lindos is beautiful. We climb hundreds of steps to its acropolis. The alternative is a smelly donkey ride! Fantastic views. As we walk back down Tina buys a Christmas runner from a woman selling on the steep hillside. Picture perfect. We get lost in the rabbit warren of Lindos but locals help us out. We end up in the most beautiful church I have ever seen. Sadly no photos were allowed. Every inch of the curved ceiling was beautifully painted and the walls were covered in icons.

On the way back to Rhodes we stop at a ceramics factory/shop. Great to see how they were made and decorated. Buy a small plate.

Bus journey continues and Tina falls asleep again. You guessed it; once again she startles everyone by loudly snorting herself awake.

We have a short orientation tour of the Old Town of Rhodes then back to boat for lunch and nap. After waking up we stroll back into Old Town where Tina buys a Liverpool fridge magnet (we have bought a lot of fridge magnets) and I buy a Che tie.

Insight cocktail party. Dinner features Beef Wellington and Baked Alaska which is brought in with great ceremony.

We watch a lot of Man U v Arsenal on tv in our room.

BOTH Achilles are aching as to get up the steps at Lindos I over compensated on the other leg.

There is a gentle, slightly rolling sea and tonight’s towel animal is a very cute bunny rabbit that was sitting staring at the door to greet us when we came into our cabin.

We left Palmie 2 weeks ago.
